Paper Planes is now Obsidian Helsinki – building growth through AI and global reach

Content and digital marketing agency Paper Planes is taking the next step on its growth journey. The company has been part of the international Obsidian Group for nearly two years, and from 1 October 2025 onwards it will operate under the name Obsidian Helsinki. Thanks to Obsidian's wide network of experts, clients now have access to an even broader range of services.

“We’ve been working closely with the Obsidian teams in Denmark, Germany, and the Balkans for almost two years, and now feels like the right time to take the next step. Renaming the company is a natural way to show that we’re part of the same team,” says Ville Pelttari, CEO of Obsidian Helsinki.

As more companies expand internationally, digital marketing increasingly requires deep local market expertise. Through Obsidian, Finnish clients already benefit from in-depth knowledge of markets such as Germany and Denmark – valuable support when aiming for global growth. AI is also transforming the marketing landscape.

According to Pelttari, collaboration is key: international cooperation enables completely new kinds of AI-driven solutions that make clients’ everyday work easier. “It’s great not to be tackling these challenges alone. We’re surrounded by top experts developing services for the age of AI. One example is our AI as a Service model, where we work together with clients to build AI solutions tailored to their specific needs,” Pelttari explains.

Being part of a larger group also brings practical benefits: for instance, Meta and other key platforms offer a completely different level of support to global players compared to small local agencies.

Despite its growth and international expansion, the company’s core remains unchanged. The 20-strong Helsinki team will continue its work as before, and the global network also opens up new career opportunities within the group. Alongside Pelttari, Paper Planes’ two other founders – Jaakko Soudunsaari and Pasi Pellikka – will remain with the company.

“We’ll keep the local approach and attitude that people know us for. Great service, talented people, and agile ways of working will stay at the heart of what we do – and on top of that, we’re now building new international opportunities and digital marketing solutions,” Pelttari sums up.

Obsidian Group CEO Emil Ignatzi Reinholdt adds: “We’re thrilled to move into this next chapter together with the Finnish team. From day one, our collaboration has been seamless, and sharing the same name now reflects the way we already operate – as one team. Together, we’re ready to shake up the market with smarter, AI-driven approaches and build the next generation of digital marketing across Europe.”
